Prison Cookies
These cookies from Marth Stewarrt joined the island the year she had a wee bit of trouble, so instead of Oatmeal Shortbread, they are ever after Prison cookies!
Ingredients
3 + 1/2 cups | rolled oats |
2/3 cup | packed brown sugar |
1/4 cup | all-purpose flour |
1/2 tsp | salt |
12 tbsp | unsalted butter, room temperature |
1 tsp |
vanilla extract |
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and generously butter a 9-inch square baking pan.
- In a large bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Add the butter and vanilla and work them into the flour with a wooden spoon or your fingers until the mixture is crumbly.
- Press the dough into the prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes until golden
- Cut them when they are still hot, otherwise you wil swear profusely while trying to cut those %^#$^%$*&^%$&%$&^%$ things as they shatter into a million pieces. *&%*&^%*&^^%*&^%!%$!#$%!#@%!!!!.
